Perimenopause as a Powerful Transition

Holistic Support with Acupuncture Herbs and Tapping

At Innate Being Therapies, we offer a truly integrative approach to perimenopause support. Rather than targeting symptoms in isolation, we look at the whole picture — your cycle, your sleep, your stress, your emotional landscape, and your vitality — and we work with your body's own intelligence to restore balance.Acupuncture works to regulate the nervous system, support hormonal balance, and ease the intensity of symptoms.

Chinese herbal medicine can be prescribed alongside treatment to nourish and tonify the body from within. And EFT Tapping offers a gentle yet powerful way to process the emotional shifts that so often accompany this time — the grief, the uncertainty, the identity changes, and the moments of feeling unlike yourself.Together, these three modalities create a deeply supportive container for your perimenopause journey.

The Early Autumn of Life

In Chinese medicine, perimenopause is understood as the early autumn of a woman's life. Just as autumn is a season of harvest, release, and turning inward, this phase invites us to gather the wisdom of our lived experience and begin a new kind of relationship with ourselves.

The Kidney system, which governs our reproductive energy and our deepest reserves of vitality, naturally begins to shift during this time. When this system is well nourished and supported, the transition can be smooth, graceful, and even deeply meaningful.

When it is depleted — through years of stress, overgiving, poor sleep, or not enough rest — the symptoms of perimenopause can feel much more intense.
Our work together is to replenish those reserves, clear what no longer serves, and help your body move through this transition with as much ease and grace as possible.

Chinese Medicine in Peri

Chinese medicine has been supporting women through hormonal transitions for thousands of years. In perimenopause, we look at patterns of imbalance — such as Kidney Yin deficiency, Liver Qi stagnation, or Heart and Kidney disharmony — and use acupuncture and herbs to gently rebalance the system over time.
Common areas we focus on include:

  • Regulating the nervous system to improve sleep and reduce anxiety
  • Cooling and nourishing to ease hot flushes and night sweats
  • Moving stagnation to support emotional wellbeing and reduce irritability
  • Tonifying energy and blood to address fatigue and brain fog
  • Supporting the Liver to ease cycle irregularities and mood swings

Treatment is always tailored to you individually. No two women move through perimenopause the same way, and your care will reflect that.

Tapping To Release

EFT Tapping (Emotional Freedom Technique) is one of the most powerful tools we offer for the emotional dimension of perimenopause. By gently tapping on specific meridian points while speaking to what is present — the anxiety, the overwhelm, the grief, the frustration — we can shift the nervous system out of stress and into a state of greater calm and clarity.

Tapping is particularly helpful for the moments when you feel like you don't recognise yourself, when emotions feel bigger than usual, or when the mental load feels impossible to carry. It is quick, gentle, and deeply effective — and it is something you can continue to use on your own between sessions.

Many women find that tapping becomes one of their most valued tools not just through perimenopause, but for life.
